"At age 26 I was raped by an unknown man. A year later I gave birth to a daughter. Abortion was not available then nor was the woman's movement. I raised my daughter by myself in California. No one can ever know the prejudices that I had to live through. I structured my life to give myself choices that were denied to me by society. My daughter is now actualizing her life. Women should have the ability to choose abortion in a safe place in any general hospital in this country. We are whole people not second class citizens or objects to be hidden. Availability of abortion means a freer society and a happier one."
